OHCS Summer camps are designed to bring different age children together so that they can learn from each other and have fun together. Classes are taught by experienced educators who are native-speakers. Activities include storytelling, music, movement, arts & crafts, dramatic play, games, and more! The camp provides an open and friendly environment for students to improve Chinese-language skills through a variety of themes, and it allows campers to develop confidence in their language skills as they expand their knowledge and understanding of Chinese culture. 2026 Summer camp Themes:

主题Theme 1: Chinese painting and Calligraphy 国画和书法  Week 1&2: June 15– June 26

Chinese painting and calligraphy are one of the oldest continuous artistic traditions in the world. Campers will practice the basic brush painting technique to draw their favorite animals such as panda bear and horse since 2026 is year of horse.  They will also learn/practice the basic calligraphy technique to write Chinese characters. 

主题Theme 2: Geography—Bottom of the Sea 海底世界 Week 3&4: July 6 – July 17

The Earth is unique in that it the only planet that is known to contain oceans.  The Earth’s hydrosphere, comprised primarily of oceans, is vital to all known life forms and is a key component in climate and weather patterns.   Children will learn facts relating to oceans and be able locate Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern(Antarctic), and Arctic Oceans on a world map.  They will also learn about sea related creatures and have fun playing the sand.

China today is a continuation of one the greatest civilizations that the world has ever seen.  Throughout its long history, China has been at the forefront of scientific and technological advances.  Campers will learn about the four great inventions that China has given the world, the compass指南针 and papermaking造纸. They will be engaged in related arts and science projects and science experiments.

主题Theme 4: Science— Four Grand Inventions 四大发明 Week 7&8: Aug.3 -Aug.14

China today is a continuation of one the greatest civilizations that the world has ever seen.  Throughout its long history, China has been at the forefront of scientific and technological advances.  Campers will learn about the four great inventions that China has given the world, printing印刷 and gunpowder火药.  They will be engaged in related arts and science projects and science experiments.

主题Theme 5: Natural Science—Nature explorer 探索大自然  Week 9&10: Aug.17 –Aug.28

Children and nature go together!  Outdoor activities offer countless benefits for children’s overall wellbeing from body, mind, to spirit.  Campers will explore in the park next door observing plants, flowers, bugs, birds and other wild creatures, hunting for rocks, digging in the dirt, and collecting nature material to make art crafts.  

Ages:3 -12 yr: campers need to wear sunscreen, bring a water bottle, a sack lunch; a morning and an afternoon snack every day.

Full day camp: (8:30 am— 3:00 pm) $290/week,

Half day camp: (8:30am—12:30pm) $240/week, 

After-camp care: 3:30pm-5:30pm ($100/week)
