幼儿园&学前班 Preschool & Kindergarten

OHCS Chinese Mandarin Immersion Preschool and Kindergarten is a Montessori inspired, State licensed language program for Children who are 2.5-6 years old.

Mission Statement:
To provide a safe, caring, and nurturing environment as well as to immerse children in Chinese language and culture to achieve excellence in each child’s emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development encouraging children to develop independently into well-rounded individuals.
Philosophy:
• Independence, curiosity, decision-making, cooperation, persistence, creativity, and problem solving are the fundamental skills that help determine success in adult life.
• Bilingualism and multiculturalism: Prepare our children to be productive citizens and effective communicators in the globalized world economy.
• Early childhood language immersion is the most effective way to become bilingual because a child’s brain has learning potential that can easily remain dormant without an additional challenge.
Montessori Inspired Teaching Method:
• Mixed age classroom for children ages 2.5 to 6 years old to nurture social interaction and emotional skills.
• Emphasis on independence, freedom within limits, and encouraging each child’s individual differences and uniqueness.
• Ample outdoor area, garden, and a mini farm for children to absorb and learn through their environment, play-based learning, and hand-on activities.
Mandarin Speaking, Reading, and Writing Emphasis:
Mandarin Kids teachers are native speakers, and degreed and experienced early childhood education experts. Daily emphasis is placed on listening and speaking practice to enable children to develop a native accent and keen listening-comprehension skills.
Studies have shown that young children, ages 3-6, are capable of recognizing words. OHCS’s strong and proven reading program enables young children to develop early literacy in Chinese language by daily exposure to Chinese characters, songs and movements, classical poems (唐诗), nursery rhymes (儿歌), and story telling(故事).
Chinese characters evolved from pictures, called pictographs. Students at Mandarin Kids enjoy learning Chinese strokes, radicals, and characters through arts, crafts, and other hands-on activities. It helps children to understand the meaning of the characters and master the fundamental writing skills for further language learning.
Our Teachers:
Our teachers are native speakers who are well versed in Chinese culture. At the same time, they’re trained to teach in the “American style,” which encourages student participation, individual expression, and creativity. We also employ a team teaching technique, which enables teachers to target specific learning styles in small groups and one on one.
